Why are we different from other Film competitions?
1) There are too many rules
2) Not everyone’s works get shown
3) Freedom to experiment and express yourself
Everyone gets a fair and equal chance to have their words shown and evaluated.
What is a Looksy?
A ‘Looksy’ is a 3-4 minute web video which answers one simple question: What does your digital world look like?This is a chance to show the world why you’re unique. This is a chance to show the world how you’re using digital technology. Your voice. Your video.
Eligibility
To be eligible each video must have an ‘except 1’ piece a 1 minute video tagged onto the 3-4 minute video.
Competition Requirements
At least 100 videos (minimum) in total to keep the prize money at $15000
Less than 100 videos means the total prize money falls to $1200
Added Incentive:
People who submit to the project will have the chance to produce web video for clients and get paid for it.
Competition Deadline
Thursday, 30th June 2011
Method of Judgement:
Think of looksy as an audition for a range of prizes, ongoing film projects and experiments
1) On June 30th 2011, the community will vote for the 10 best submissions
2) This will be screened for a panel of judges, who will then award the cash prize of $15,000.
3) However even if you don’t win or don’t get in the top 10 there will be many other opportunities in the future.
The Except 1 Rule
1) Make two videos
a. First one to answer the question ‘What does your digital world look like’ in any way you prefer to answer it. It’s your voice. View an Example.
i. Length: 3 – 4 Minutes Long
b. Second one explaining on what occasion you prefer using the Social Media (like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube etc.) to other types of Digital Media (like Instant Messaging, Text Messaging, Email etc.)
i. Length: About 1 Minute Long
c. Every entry will get screened at the First Looksy Day we’ll be having which will celebrate your content.
d. Use Looksy as your practice board to better your Film-Making craft.
2) The community will vote on who should be in the top 10 out of 100 with an additional 5 gaining automatic entry for getting in an entry prior to 7th June 2011.
